The Independent Journal Review reports:
“President Donald Trump weighed in on congressional Republicans’ ongoing tax reform efforts, possibly complicating the process by insisting two major changes be included.
The president tweeted that he’d like to see the legislation repeal Obamacare’s individual mandate and cut the top individual tax rate to 35 percent.”
Some politicians really had some trouble with this. Surely since this means extra work, a few more hours and a bit more adjustment to the existing draft.
The Senate and The House bills, both of which are currently being crafted, have top individual tax rates above 35 percent, with the House at 39.6 percent and the Senate bill dropping slightly to 38.5 percent.
Republicans have been trying to make a tax reform for a really long time now. That’s why this is the right time to do it and not listen to the politicians’ grumbling.
Now they finally have a chance and if they waste it, who knows when and even if they get a next one.
Trump is aware of this and he is determined to do it right the first time, because he might not get a second time.
And he’s trying to make DC aware too, regardless of whether they’ll hate him for it or not.
